Elements identifies suitable research outputs which are not yet openly available, and lets researchers easily deposit them in Figshare directly from Elements with the push of a button. Not only does Elements make it simple for your researchers to deposit files to your institutional repository, it also offers reporting tools and dashboards allowing administrators to identify work that should be made openly available, monitor open access engagement and policy compliance, and take actions on researchers’ behalf.

 

Intelligent data harvesting

Intelligent data harvesting means Elements is always working for you in the background, continuously identifying and matching research outputs from Figshare and other data sources to automatically populate and update records in Elements.

 

Users can work wherever works best 

Powerful bidirectional integration means that researchers can deposit via either Elements or directly to Figshare. Publications deposited directly into Figshare will be automatically harvested by Elements, creating a new record or linked to an existing record, retaining a consistent, comprehensive and current picture of all of a researcher’s publications.

Streamline workflows and relieve administrative burden 

Institutions can define open access strategy and workflows within the system to automate which publications are targeted for deposit, record exceptions, and create reports on compliance at a researcher, department or group level. Elements will automatically prompt researchers to deposit target publications to Figshare and guide them quickly and easily through the process, simplifying workflows for academics and administrators, increasing deposit rates, and removing the need for duplicate data entry.

 

Deposit guidance and funder compliance

Where policies mandate that publications are made openly available upon acceptance for publication, these can be deposited into Figshare via a dedicated Elements workflow, with prompts and calls-to-action in place to guide authors. Deposit advice from Sherpa/RoMEO is embedded as standard, and in addition administrators can provide their own guidance at the organisational level of for particular publishers or journals.

 

Set targets and monitor progress

Filter publications by parameters to review how you are progressing toward compliance, record exceptions, track library status and measure engagement levels for individuals or departments.
